4. Map to your farm page-This page will have your farm name, address and telephone number at the top, written directions and a map to your farm

b. Provide us a map to your farm (What you give us will be scanned and placed on the site)
Map must be black lines on a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of white paper. Make lines heavy and cities and roads legible. What you give us will go on the web site! We will not change it! If a mistake is found, we will require a new map. It does not have to be professionally done. Some of the best maps are hand drawn. We prefer not to use reduced scale maps from your brochure (It may look awful). If you have the full size original, we can use it.
5. Your Farm Page-This page can be a combination of words and pictures of your choosing. This page will be what gets people interested in your farm. It can show what activities you have, trees you grow and even pictures of you, your family and dog if so desired. You do not have to fill in every cell and can leave cell(s) blank. You may want to put a picture in the second column and describe it in the first column, etc. Remember , this page is to give potential customers more information about your farm either through a mix of the written word and pictures of your choosing. This page is generally trial and error between you and I in attempt to get the look you want.
A general description to go above the table (i.e A Fun-Filled Day at ABC Farm, The ABC family welcomes you to our place, etc. ) Be creative. This is what will get customers to look at the pictures, read your description and eventually come to your farm.

Frequently asked questions
1. What if I do not like what I give you?
You can always change it . If the change is minor, send an email (Millhollo@aol.com) or a letter. Please, do not call. Verbal instructions can and realistically will be misinterpreted! If necessary, draw a sketch of what you want the page to look like and I will try to interpret what you mean and put it on the web. Changes are good and easy after the information is originally placed on the internet.
2. What if I have changes on something minor like hours?
Send an email (MillHollo@aol.com) or come to the convention. Again, do not wait to the last minute or month! Do it as early as possible.
3. What is the cost to me of this web site?
It is free as long as your board of directors decide to have it free as part of your membership!
4. Can you use my URL for this web site?
At this point in time, no. If you wish to get your own URL, we will provide you with a 3.5 inch disk with the web site on it for you to upload to your own server. For your information, the cost of a server to handle this web site should be around $10-15 per month, roughly $35 per year to have your URL name (ABCFarms.com) reserved and $35 for the software to upload this web site to the server or roughly $190 to $250 per year. If you hire someone to up load it, it would realistically cost you again that amount and possibly a lot more.
5. What will be the address or URL of my web site?
For ABC Christmas Tree Farm, the URL would be something like-

I will advise you by email what your URL will be. Also, it can be found on the first page or www.TexasChristmasTrees.net. If you do not like the URL I have given you, please suggest another and I will see if it works.
6. I am totally confused and not sure what this web site will look like, what should I do?
Go to the web site, www.TexasChristmasTrees.net, and see what others have done. Please feel free to use some of their ideas and thoughts but do keep you web site unique to your operation.
7. What if I want buttons, sound, video cam or additional pages added to my web site?
Sorry, this is above the scope of what we can do! It will "throw a wrench" in what we are doing and make it more difficult to provide a web site for all members who do not have one. We are just trying to provide everyone with a bare bones but workable web site and not with a web site with all of the latest bells and whistles. If you desire this, I would strongly suggest consider doing it yourself or hiring a web site designer to do it for you.
8. Can you take pictures on CD disk or attachments by email?
Yes, but we must know what number on the form corresponds to the picture on the disk! Again, we can not return the disk. If you want to scan a picture for us, and send it to us, we require a "jpeg" file and preferably 100,000 bytes or less. If you do not know what we are talking about here, just send us the picture with the appropriate number on the back and we will take it from there. Based on history, we have had more problems in downloading pictures from disks and also from attachments to email. You are not making my task any easier by sending pictures on a disk or by email! However, I nearly never have a problem scanning a picture!
9. Does the web site committee need help?
I thought you would never ask! Yes, we can use volunteers of all skill levels. We even need volunteers who do not know how to turn on a computer. Just let the Chairman of the web site committee know. We do try to limit the amount of your time taken with most tasks taking 4 hours or less per year. We train!
